Bigfork siblings lead State B golf
SHELBY — Siblings Colin and Keni Wade are the only Bigfork representatives at the State B golf championships this spring, but they are representing well.
Both lead the individual races after the first day of play at Maras Valley Golf and Country Club: Colin Wade put up three birdies on the way to a 75 and a two-stroke lead on the field after one round Tuesday. Landon Olson of Columbus is second at 77; Townsend’s Peyton Toney leads four more boys that broke 80 on the day, with a 78.
Keni Wade’s first-round 80 included two birdies; she holds a three-stroke lead over Celi Chapman of Boulder.
Thompson Falls’ Ellie Baxter and Shelby’s Jori Clary are tied for third at 86, six strokes back of the lead.
Anaconda leads the boys team race at 37-over, three strokes ahead of Boulder and 11 ahead of Columbus. Boulder leads the girls team race by 18 over host Shelby and 312 over Malta.
There are 69 boys and 71 girls competing at the tournament, which concludes Wednesday on the same course. Complete results can be found at mhsa.org.
