Tickets are on sale to see Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and blues guitarist, Tab Benoit with opening act The Rumble, a New Orleans-based band, at the Wachholz College Center in August.

Benoit has built a music career spanning more than 30 years on the foundation of his gritty and soulful Delta swamp blues. Along the way, he’s earned five Blues Music Awards — which includes being named BB King Entertainer of the Year twice — and was inducted into The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.

He has recorded/performed with Junior Wells, George Porter Jr, Dr. John, Willie Nelson, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Billy Joe Shaver, Maria Muldaur, James Cotton, Cyril Neville, Kenny Aronoff, Allen Toussaint, Kim Wilson, Jimmy Thackery, Charlie Musslewhite, Kenny Neal, Chris Layton, Ivan Neville, Jimmy Hall, Jim Lauderdale, Anders Osborne and Alvin Youngblood Hart.

The Rumble, which features six Grammy-nominated musicians, is more than just a band — it’s an experience into a unique aspect of Mardi Gras traditional culture known as the Mardi Gras Indians. On Mardi Gras morning, onlookers may feast on the intricate beadwork of Mardi Gras Indian attire as participants dance down the street, but the first thing people will hear is the back line, known as “the rumble,” according to the band’s bio.

The Rumble — which is composed of Second Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr. of the Golden Eagles, trumpeter Aurélien Barnes, trombonist José Maize Jr., bassist TJ Norris, guitarist Ari Teitel, keyboardist Andriu Yanovski and drummer Trenton O’Neal — fuses iconic New Orleans funk in the vein of The Meters and The Neville Brothers with a modern sound befitting the next generation through electrifying brass and the singular visual splendor of the Black Masking Carnival tradition.

Ticket prices range from $39 to $50, not including ticket service fees, and are available for purchase online at www.wachholzcollegecenter.org. The concert is set for 7 p.m. Aug. 27. The Wachholz College Center is located on the Flathead Valley Community College campus.
