Warranties and schedules will be considered when determining the bid that is in the best interest of Flathead County and will be included in the contract. Each bidder must deposit with his/her bid, a bid security in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the bid. Bid security shall be payable to Flathead County and shall be in the form of lawful money of the United States, a cashier’s check, certified check, bank money order, or bank draft issued by a banking corporation incorporated under the laws of the State of Montana, or bid bond executed by a surety corporation authorized to do business in Montana. No. 29482 PUBLIC NOTICE BUSCH GRAVEL PIT OPERATION SECTION 33, T27N, R24W FLATHEAD COUNTY OPERATOR: FLATHEAD COUNTY ROAD DEPARTMENT 1249 Willow Glen Drive Kalispell, MT 59901 758-5790 fax 758-5794 The Flathead County Road Department proposes to re-permit their existing 40.1-acre gravel pit on the above-described land. The County owns the land where their permit is located and uses a short, paved access road that crosses private land. Access to the site is gained directly from U.S. Highway 2 East and no changes are proposed. The County operates a crusher and stockpiles material at this location. They operate a maintenance shop and a sand shed that would remain along with the access road after the pit portion has been reclaimed. The pit would be operated intermittently from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Saturday to provide itself aggregate products county road construction and maintenance as needed. The site has been operated since the early 1990’s and would continue to operate off and on over the next 27 years. Much of the gravel has already been removed from this site but in total it could extract as much as 2.0 million cubic yards of material. Of that volume, approximately 25,000 cubic yards are soils that covered the gravel and facility area, and which would remain on site for reclamation. The rest would be sand and gravel products. All soil and overburden would be stripped off and saved for reclamation and planted back to pasture grass when mining and processing are completed. Facilities that move in and out could include a crusher, screens, dozers, scrapers, haul trucks, fuel trucks, road watering and other equipment typical of road construction.
