Charles 'Chuck' Sweetser, 64

| May 28, 2023 12:00 AM

Charles "Chuck" Sweetser passed away May 18, 2023, of natural causes. He was born June 12, 1958, in Roundup and raised in Helena, the youngest of four children.

Chuck had a peaceful personality and lived a quiet simple life. His sister V. Diane and he shared great lifetime adventures. He was a good photographer and loved to cook, sharing the results with friends and neighbors.

He was devoted to his dad and mom, participating with them in their apartment business and their move to Canyon Ferry Ranch.

Chuck enjoyed hunting and fishing. Some of his best memories were with his dad and family friend Orville George on elk hunting trips in the Bitterroot.

Cliff Fawcett of Roundup and Randy Reisland of Kalispell were his buddies. Camping, music, cowboy movies and books on cooking were favorites.

The last 25 years were mostly spent in Kalispell after the passing of his dad. His mom’s home became a refuge and a place for family to gather. As his mom’s health declined in the last couple of years of her life, Chuck’s care and steadfast love for her gave him purpose and meaning. Her death in April of 2022 was devastating; he was lost without her.

Our youngest brother, Charles Erving Sweetser will not be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Rose (Vittorie) Sweetser; and brother, Gregory Sweetser.

Survivors are sister, Linda (Bob) Heffernan of Kalispell; sister, V. Diane Sweetser of Scottsdale Arizona; nieces and nephews, Haley Hunthausen; Austin Martell; John, Luke (Unique), Shea (Kelsey), Will (Kortney) and Mattea Heffernan.

A graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s-Turner Cemetery in Missoula, May 31 at 11 a.m.
