Public schools

Perhaps I do not fully understand how this charter school set up is supposed to work. I thought that if certain people do not think public school (an American institution since our beginnings) is good enough for their children, then they can form and fund their own private school.

Now I read that they would really like to use our public buildings and resources. I’ll bet you would! An exclusive school within a school.  Excuse me but our tax dollars have always been to fund public school not your exclusive club. You want separate, it seems to me you should find your own facilities.

Response to Zinke

Once again, Rep. Ryan Zinke has issued a statement letter (Senate wasting time not responding to Hamas attacks, Oct. 29) full of personal opinions and untruths, stated as facts. All while hoping uninformed GOP supporters and other citizens will jump onto the Republican bandwagon.

Zinke does not live in Whitefish, he owns a home and property there. This does not make him a resident of Montana.

Stating that the U.S. is supporting Iran and its terrorist activities is a lie. The U.S. was in the process of returning money to Iran that was being held because of sanctions against Iran. Not a dime of the money has been released to Iran and has not been distributed for the humanitarian causes it is meant for. Not a penny , of the money has been spent. Not a penny. The money belongs to Iran and will be disbursed for humanitarian causes only, by a third party.

The withdrawal from Afghanistan was started by former President Trump as he authorized the release of 3,000 prisoners and began withdrawing U.S. troops from the area. Biden did not start this ill-advised mess.

Biden also did not promote the invasion into Ukraine by the Putin government, as Zinke insinuates. The U.S. is fully supporting the ideals of the Ukraine government and its fighting citizens. The U.S. does not support a Chinese takeover of Taiwan and it’s citizens. To the contrary, the U.S. is doing everything it can to prevent this unlawful takeover. We support Israel and are waiting for the dysfunctional GOP led House to pass funding to aid Israel in their efforts.

As ever, the GOP is trying to pull the wool over the voters of the U.S. and the citizens of Montana. We in Montana need to remain vigilant, pay attention to facts and not bow to fascist MAGA doctrine and GOP lies.

Values public library

I truly value the experience of going to the Kalispell public library. I like that the children’s section has a new project every few weeks.

For instance, one week they might have a farmer’s market and the next a chemistry lab with a real microscope. They also have activities during the summer including special days for different age groups to come.

I feel very lucky to have such a great library.
