Law roundup: Newfound cat owner not really into the cat
The unhappy owner of a new cat phoned the Columbia Falls Police Department with concerns the feline was unwell. She told officers she had called several area veterinarians after getting the calico cat from a neighbor and each had encouraged her to contact the authorities before they would do anything. During the course of the conversation, investigators learned that the cat was fine and the woman was uninterested in keeping it. They recommended posting the cat on social media, but since it already was outside, she could always just let it go.
Police were summoned to Riverwood Drive for a disorderly call involving multiple generations of the same family.
Authorities headed to 11th Avenue for a report of gunshots and also that of an erratically driven Chevrolet Avalanche in the neighborhood.
A 12th Avenue resident asked for an increased police presence owing to the shenanigans of a group of teenagers. The caller described the youths as hanging out at the moment, but reported past problems with the teens. They often ran around and occasionally played a game of fugitive.
Responding to a report of tumbleweeds in a roadway, officers clarified that it was a sage bush. They removed it.
Someone called the police looking for the location of an inmate. The individual in question was arrested the previous evening for allegedly driving under the influence, but was not on the county jail roster.
Officers broke up a dispute that began after someone allegedly left their vehicle on another person’s property. The individual who phoned in the haphazardly parked car told authorities they had arranged for a tow. That’s when the car’s owner showed up and allegedly began yelling. Officers separated the pair.
A woman struggling to get her belongings out of the apartment she previously shared with her ex phoned police looking for help. He refused to let her get her things, she said.
Another woman dealing with the same problem succeeded in getting a civil standby as she collected her goods from her ex.
A mother inquiring about the location of her son’s vehicle was told that it was taken to secure storage after his arrest the day prior.
Employees at a store phoned police after a customer began acting oddly, talking loudly about the devil while her eyes rolled back into her head.
Officers took note of graffiti popping up around town. Vandals hit a green power box and the pavement at an intersection.
