Flathead Story Concerts event Oct. 15

| October 5, 2023 12:00 AM

Storytellers will be sharing new stories and poems during the Flathead Story Concerts event on Sunday, Oct. 15 from 2-4 p.m. at Sacred Waters Brewing in Kalispell.

Flathead Story Concerts are themed and curated spoken word events, not open-mics. Space is limited and doors open at 1:30 p.m. for early seating.

This is the second free community event co-hosted by Sacred Waters Brewing Company and FSC creators Barbara and Glenn Schiffman.

More than 100 people attended the Flathead Story Concerts inaugural event in August.

Similar to The Moth Radio Hour or PBS-TV's "Stories From the Stage" series, the event features stories and poems by six local tellers and two local poets who have been selected to present.

The October concert has two themes: "Fish Out of Water" and "Roots and Wings." Several tellers are members of the local writers' organization Authors of the Flathead.

Flathead Story Concerts are co-sponsored by Authors of the Flathead, The Bookshelf in Kalispell, and My Glacier Village plus Sacred Waters and other venues in Flathead Valley. More curated and themed Story Concerts are being planned for 2024.

Residents of Flathead Valley are invited to submit new stories for the 2024 Story Concerts. There are no fees to submit true personal experience stories, short fiction, or poetry for consideration. Get details at: https://FlatheadStoryConcerts.wootick.com
