A 43-year-old Hayden, Idaho woman died in a late-morning vehicle collision on U.S. 2 near Marion on Saturday, authorities say.

The woman was headed eastbound when her gray GMC Acadia drifted into the westbound lane near mile marker 103.5, according to Montana Highway Patrol, which investigated the fatal crash. A gray Chevrolet Colorado headed west struck the Acadia head-on about 11:52 a.m., Oct. 1.

The 43-year-old, described as improperly wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The 22-year-old male driver of the Colorado suffered injuries and was flown to Logan Health Medical Center by A.L.E.R.T. air ambulance, officials said. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

Road conditions were described as bare and dry. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected as playing a role in the fatal wreck.
