Whitefish Emergency Services Center open house is Sunday

The Whitefish Fire Department is celebrating Fire Prevention Week with an Open House on Sunday, Oct. 15.

The event runs from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Emergency Services Center, located at 275 Flathead Ave. in Whitefish.

Attendees can visit with first responders, including Whitefish police and firefighters, the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office, Search and Rescue, and crews from ALERT and Two Bear Air, while learning about safety.

The event will allow families to view the specialized equipment used in emergency responses, take tours of the fire and police stations, and enjoy free hot dogs.

Whitefish firefighters are visiting with students this week to discuss safety and fire prevention. The theme for Fire Prevention Week this year is kitchen safety. According to the National Fire Prevention Association, cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries.
