Donald L. Groves, 91

Donald L. Groves, 91, passed away on Oct. 13, 2023, at his home in Kalispell. He was born on April 3, 1932, in Polson to Louis and Mary Groves.

Don attended Polson schools, worked hard on the family farm, and married the love of his life, Alice Elverud, in 1954. Together they raised their family and farmed for many years near Polson. During some of this time, he also worked at a lumber mill in Seeley Lake and at the Dupuis lumber mill in Polson.

After their children were grown, they farmed in the summers and enjoyed spending their winters as snowbirds in Arizona and Nevada for decades. They moved to Kalispell in more recent years to be closer to family.

He is survived by his beloved and dedicated wife of 69 years, Alice; son, Forrest Groves (and Colleen); daughter, Dianne Lynn (and Robert); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Lou McAlpin and Joyce Pickel, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary Groves; his sisters, Shirley Myers and Doris Dupuis; his brother, Gary Groves; and his son, Richard Groves.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, at the Lakeview Cemetery, Polson. With a celebration of life reception following at the Red Lion Hotel Conference Center, 209 Ridgewater Dr, Polson.
