Fall dance and music lineup takes stage at Wachholz College Center
A Flamenco dance showcase and a mix of soul, folk and country music is on tap this fall at the Wachholz College Center.
On Oct. 29, Spain Flamenco Arts presents Lo Preciso by Rafael Ramírez. Lo Preciso is dancer and choreographer Ramírez’ latest work. Ramírez, who began dancing at 3, is from Malaga, Spain.
The show begins at 4 p.m. Tickets prices range from $20 to $45, not including service fees.
On Nov. 2, the stage will be set for a musical showdown between Eli “Paperboy” Reed and The Harlem Gospel Travelers. Reed is known for his soulful performances, and The Harlem Gospel Travelers bring the uplifting sounds of gospel music.
Reed and The Harlem Gospel Travelers have worked together for nearly a decade, starting when the younger Harlem Gospel Travelers were students of Reed’s foundation in Harlem, according to a press release.
“Reed’s soulful style may have inspired the Travelers at first, but now, in this winner-take-all matchup, audiences will find out if the students can beat the teacher at his own game!”
The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $20 to $40, not including service fees.
Local singer and songwriter Mike Murray will play an evening of original songs written throughout his career and new unreleased material on Nov. 3. With a career spanning more than a decade, Murray has performed live countless times, including at SXSW in Austin, Texas; Red Ants Pants Music Festival in White Sulphur Springs; The Crown Guitar Festival in Bigfork; Live From The Divide in Bozeman; and Under the Big Sky Festival in Whitefish. He’s released six studio albums. His latest studio album is titled, “The Devil’s Rope.”
“Mike Murray has a voice that is honest, direct, and embodies the pureness of a classic folk storyteller. His music carries a message of camaraderie and empathy, while drawing from his adventurous life experiences,” according to www.mikemurraytunes.com.
The concert starts at 8 p.m. Ticket prices range from $25 to $35, not including service fees.
Celebrated and Grammy-nominated country and folk singer Suzy Bogguss takes the stage Nov. 5 for an evening filled with beautiful melodies and storytelling through music.
During the creative explosion in country music in the 1990s, Bogguss sold four million records coming out with hits like “Outbound Plane,” “Someday Soon,” “Letting Go,” “Drive South,” and “Hey Cinderella.” During her popularity, she recorded an album of duets with legendary Chet Atkins. In 2014, she released “Lucky,” a collection of songs written by Merle Haggard and interpreted through her “crystal vocals from the female point of view.” Her latest release, “Aces Redux,” is a re-recording of her platinum-selling album “Aces” with fresh arrangements.
The concert begins at 5 p.m. Ticket prices range from $32 to $49, not including service fees.
