HELENA — The Glacier Wolfpack boys golf team turned it on Friday, claiming the Helena Invitational by virtue of its top four players combining to shoot 4-under par.

Led by Sam Engellant’s 66, the Wolfpack scored 280 on the par-71 Bill Roberts Golf Course, and a 1-stroke lead on Thursday ballooned into a 20-stroke victory over Missoula Sentinel.

Helena Capital was third at 608.

Glacier’s girls tied for second with Capital as well, just three strokes behind champion Missoula Hellgate. The Pack’s Chloe Tanner shot 79 Friday to draw even with Hellgate’s top golfer, Anna Stensrud. Both shot 160 for 36 holes; Stensrud took medalist honors via scorecard playoff.

Engellant narrowly missed medalist honors himself: Capital freshman John Gilbert ran home a long eagle putt to finish with a 70 and a two-day total of 140. Engellant was second at 141.

Tanyon and Torren Murray each fired 72s on Saturday for Glacier, while Trevor Cunningham shot 70 and finished at 147. The Pack had a 2-5-6-7 finish, and Jonah Wynne ended up just one stroke outside the top 15.

Flathead’s Dylan Morris shot a 67 Saturday, carding six birdies and moving into eighth among the boys with a 148 total. Teammate Tyler Williams finished ninth, and the Braves finished fourth in the eight-team tournament, one stroke ahead of Missoula Big Sky.

Besides Tanner, Braelyn Ryan had a top-15 finish for the Glacier girls, tying Flathead’s Becca Vosen for 13th at 200. Flathead’s Payzlee Boyce was one stroke outside the top 15, at 207.

The Bravettes finished sixth as a team.
