Valley Voices Community Choir begins rehearsals

| September 14, 2023 12:00 AM

The Valley Voices Community Choir has kicked off its fall season in rehearsal for its December concert.

The next rehearsal for those who would like to join will be Sept. 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the choir room of Flathead High School.

Allyson Kuechmann directs the Valley Voices.

“Allyson has been directing the choir since its very beginning twenty-three years ago,” says David Vale, who sings bass in the choir. “An accomplished director, she uses her time with us well and brings out the best in all of us. We love every minute of it.”

The program is new each season. This season will focus on Christmas music and will culminate in a concert consisting of a few familiar carols and several musically intriguing seasonal arrangements.

The choir, composed of about 60 members, is open without audition to everyone who wants to sing.

“It was my belief in founding this choir,” says Kuechmann, “that everyone who can speak and hear can also learn to sing.”

To join the choir, attend the rehearsals on Mondays from 6-8 p.m. There is a $45 fee to cover music and other expenses. Need-based tuition waivers are available.
