State wildlife officials investigating alleged poaching in Creston
An investigation is underway into possible poaching in the Creston area, according to officials with the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
Resident Andy Elliot said game wardens informed him earlier this week that they had caught suspected poachers in the neighborhood in the early morning of Sept. 12. A neighbor had phoned in a sighting of a suspicious vehicle on private land, Elliot said.
Elliot, who recalled seeing two dead deer in a game warden’s truck, said he was told the suspects poached on his land as well as on other private property in Creston.
A spokesperson for the state wildlife agency offered no other details, citing an ongoing investigation.
