Prep Football: Columbia Falls cruises; Eureka wins

COLUMBIA FALLS — Columbia Falls quarterback Cody Schweikert threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more scores Friday, leading the Wildcats over Polson 42-0 in Western A football.

Schweikert completed 17 of 23 passes for 232 yards, including scoring passes of 16 and 21 yards to Jace Hill and nine yards to Lane Hoerner.

Hill had eight catches for 125 yards and the Wildcats (3-2) rolled up 368 yards of offense to 127 for Polson.

Alihn Andersen added a 21-yard scoring run for the Wildcats, who also picked off four Polson passes — two by Mark Robison and one each from Anderson and Hill.

Polson (2-3) quarterback Holden Emerson was 5 of 18 passing for 57 yards and rushed for another 33 yards.

DILLON — Dillon quarterback Kee Christiansen threw for four touchdowns and ran for two more, leading the Beavers to a decisive Western A win.

Kale Konen caught one TD pass and also ran for a score for the Beavers (4-0), who led 36-0 in the first half.

Whitefish (1-4) managed just 175 yards of offense, with 159 coming through the air. Mason Kelch threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to CJ Thew; Carson Gulick was 7 of 21 passing for 82 yards for the Bulldogs, and Raymond Zonich was 5 of 7 passing for 50 yards.

EUREKA — Jesse Day ran for two touchdowns and AJ Truman ran for one and passed for another as Eureka prevailed in a battle of Western B unbeatens.

Day’s scoring runs covered 1 and 5 yards, and Truman followed up his short scoring run with a 19-yard strike to Braden Casazza for the Lions (5-0).

After Loyola (4-1) closed to 20-13 on a pick-6, Josh Lambertson tore off a 43-yard scoring run in the third quarter for Eureka. Day’s second TD iced the game in the fourth quarter.

FRENCHTOWN — Brody Hardy ran hard for Frenchtown, scoring four touchdowns on the ground including a 27-yard spurt in the fourth quarter that clinched the Broncs’ first win.

Hardy — who also picked off three passes on defense — scored from 29 and 2 yards out as the Broncs (1-3) ran out to a 21-0 lead in this Western A battle.

Bigfork (3-2) got it down to a one-score game twice, first when Elijah Thorness’ 10-yard pick-6, then with Asher Knopik’s second touchdown of the game, on a 25-yard pass from Tristan Herd.

That cut the gap to 25-23 in the fourth quarter, but Frenchtown was able to hold on.

LIBBY — Gideon Stoker’s 5-yard fumble return just three plays into the game set the tone for Corvallis, which got three touchdown passes from quarterback Ayden Mayn and improved to 5-0.

James Nordenstrom kicked a 40-yard field goal for the Blue Devils, who picked up their ninth win in 10 games dating back to last season — and the loss came at Libby, 52-42 last Oct. 21.
