Lake County Sheriff Don Bell has released the names of the two inmates that allegedly assaulted a detention officer and attempted to escape the jail the evening of April 5.

Justice Raven Nicolai, 28, and Leland Red Cloud, 24, are being housed in the Flathead County Jail and are listed on their roster as “Hold for Lake County.” Nicolai had entered a plea of not guilty in Polson District Court March 27 to felony aggravated assault. The charge stems from an assault on another inmate in the Lake County Jail, Clifford Oldhorn, 37, on Feb. 26.

Red Cloud is facing a number of drug-related offenses and failing to appear on those charges. The Lake County Attorney’s Office has not yet filed any charges against Nicolai and Red Cloud.

Oldhorn had his own legal issues. On April 10, he admitted in Polson District Court to threatening a detention officer and the officer’s family while in the Lake County Jail. Judge Molly Owen committed Oldhorn to the Montana Department of Corrections for 18 months with all but time served of 63 days suspended.

That will run consecutively to a five-year DOC commitment stemming from the revocation of a theft and burglary conviction that occurred on Hillside Road on Feb. 13, 2005.
