Accused stickup men sentenced on criminal endangerment charges

The two men accused of holding up a motorist on Browns Meadow Road in March 2023 each received sentences to the state Department of Corrections for their roles in the alleged stickup.  

Tyler David Anderson, 29, received a two-year suspended sentence on one count of felony criminal endangerment in Flathead County District Court on April 11. Kolten Evenson, 21, received a deferred three-year sentence for the same charge on Jan. 11.  

The pair initially pleaded not guilty to robbery and accountability to robbery charges stemming from the alleged holdup. Evenson reached a plea deal with prosecutors in November and Anderson followed suit in February.  

Judge Robert Allison presided over both cases.  

The two were arrested after Flathead County Sheriff's Office deputies, investigating the alleged March 25 holdup, crossed paths with them at a nearby gas station.  

The victims told the authorities that they were traveling down the road near Kila when a pickup truck began following them closely, eventually passing them and blocking the road, according to court documents. Two armed men exited the pickup and cocked their weapons, asking after a stolen weapon. Searching the victims' vehicle, they seized a box of vape pens, court documents said.  

Investigators identified the two men as Evenson and Anderson, according to court documents. When they found them at the gas station, Evenson allegedly was wearing a handgun in a holster on his hip and authorities recovered another firearm inside the duo's red Ford F-150.  

“I guess [Evenson] technically robbed them in a way,” Anderson allegedly told deputies during questioning.
