Law roundup: Residents raise dog poisoning concerns
A woman calling from Martin City allegedly believed someone tried to poison her dog after finding handfuls of raw hamburger in her yard. She told Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that she took her dog to the emergency vet during the night. In a follow-up call to deputies, the woman reportedly said she found more meat thrown in her yard and had a suspect in mind.

A man allegedly found three large chunks of fresh meat on the ground near his property. Concerned somebody was trying to poison his or the neighborhood dogs, he asked police to test the mystery meat for poison. An officer told him that the police department did not have the resources to test for something like that and told him the best thing to do would be to dispose of the meat and call back if something happened to his dog.
A woman reportedly thought her chihuahua mix had been poisoned when she picked it up from a dog-sitter and later that night it began swaying, spasming, puking and defecating everywhere. She said the sitter told her the dog didn’t get into anything it shouldn’t have. When an officer counseled her and said the dog might have eaten something on its own, she said he didn’t because he’s picky about what he eats and hung up.
A colorful woman in her 30s or 40s allegedly charged someone’s 10-year-old sister, asking her for money. The woman, who was wearing a multicolored shirt and bright lipstick, allegedly cussed at the sibling when they asked her “not to do that to children.” The woman also was reportedly sitting on people’s porches, knocking on doors and harassing people.
A woman was allegedly indecently exposed while peeing on a building. She was taken to jail.

A man walking his dog through a field reportedly found three bags of random belongings and a metal bar underneath. He noted one bag contained a bunch of shoes and wanted to know what to do with “transient property.”
An out-of-state rental property owner called the police after a neighbor allegedly told them to because they thought drug activity was going on at a rental house because people were coming and going at all hours of the day and a note on the door directed people to call a phone number instead of knocking.
