Big Sky Women: Bobcats stymie Bears
BOZEMAN — Madison Hall scored 19 points and Montana State rode a dominant first-half defensive performance to a 61-40 Big Sky women’s basketball win over Northern Colorado Thursday.
Taylor Janssen added 17 points and Marah Dykstra had 13 for the Bobcats (14-10 overall, 8-3 in the Big Sky), who held the Bears to 4-for-21 shooting in the first half — 0 of 9 from the arc — while building a 30-12 lead. Janssen had 11 of her points by intermission.
Katelynn Limardo added four points and seven rebounds for MSU.
Seneca Hackley was the only player to reach double figures for Northern Colorado (10-11, 5-5), with 10 points.
NAU 69, Montana 60
MISSOULA — Sophie Glancey poured in 30 points, former MSU Bobcat Leia Beatted had a double-double and Northern Arizona downed the Montana Lady Griz Thursday.
Glancey was 14 of 21 from the floor and snared eight rebounds for the first-place Lumberjacks (17-6 overall, 9-1 in the Big Sky), who out rebounded UM 46-36. She scored eight points in the fourth quarter as NAU made a 54-49 lead hold up.
After Macey Huard hit a three for the Lady Griz (15-7, 7-4) to cut their gap to 60-54 with 4:33 left, Beattie — she had 10 points and 10 rebounds — answered with a 3-pointer and Glancey followed with a layup to push th lead to 11 with 3:39 remaining.
Montana came no closer than eight after that.
Emil Rodabaugh added 10 points for NAU. Mack Konig led four Lady Griz in double figures with 13 points. Carmen Gfeller and Dani Bartsch had 11 points each for UM, and Bartsch had 15 rebounds.
