Girls Hoops: Vals cruise Saturday

Ava Davey led four Bigfork players in double figures with 17 points and the Valkyries made short work of Whitefish Saturday, 71-22, in Northwest A girls basketball.

Paeten Gunlock hit three 3-pointers and Braeden Gunlock and Keni Wade hit two each for the Vals (17-1 overall, 12-0 in league). All of them had at least 13 points.

Kamry Kelch hit a pair of threes and scored 13 points for Whitefish (6-10, 3-7).

POLSON — Rylee Taylor-Jefferson scored 13 points for the Lady Pirates, who withstood a fourth-quarter rally by the Maidens to improved to 8-9, 5-6 in Northwest A play.

Down by one, Ronan (6-11 overall, 3-8 in league) had a couple chances at the lead in the final 90 seconds, and ended up missing a heavily contested shot off a loose ball at the buzzer.

Nikki Kendall hit three 3-pointers — one in the fourth quarter — and scored 12 points for Ronan; Neveah Perez scored 10 of her 11 points in the Maidens’ late rally.

LIBBY — Jerel Whitegrass scored 11 points to lead a balanced Browning attack Saturday, and the Lady Indians thumped Northwest A rival Libby.

Sugar Spoonhunter hit three 3-pointers to spark a 28-point third quarter by Browning (11-5, 8-2 in Northwest A games); she and Shaylee Heavy Runner scored 10 points each.

Madison Vincent hit three 3-pointers for Libby as well; she led the Loggers (1-16, 0-11) with 10 points.
