Boys Hoops: C-Falls routs Libby; Whitefish cruises

COLUMBIA FALLS — Mark Robison scored a team-high 15 points, 12 in Columbia Falls’ dominant first quarter, and the Wildcats downed the Libby Loggers 71-29 Tuesday in Northwest A boys basketball.

Robison hit two 3-pointers in the first quarter while the Cats (12-6 overall, 8-2 in the Northwest A) rolled to a 34-7 lead.

Cody Schweikert added 14 points, Jace Hill 12 and Hunter Goodman 11 for C-Falls. All of Chance Miller’s six rebounds came at the offensive end.

Tyler Andersen and Aidan Rose had 10 points easy for Libby (1-11, 3-15).
Columbia Falls earned the league’s No. 2 seed and will face Dillon, the Southwest A No. 3 seed, in the first round of next week’s Western A Divisional in Butte.

WHITEFISH — Mason Kelch hit five 3-pointers and scored 25 points for Whitefish, which steadily pulled away in the second half.

Kelch had four treys and 16 points after intermission, and teammate Mason Genovese hit four threes of his own on the way to 14 points. CJ Thew added 11 points.

Anthony Lichtenberg led Polson with 14 points.

These two teams will face off again Thursday in a play-in game. The winner will face either Libby or Ronan Saturday for a spot in next week’s Western A Divisional.
