AA Hoops Saturday: Pack boys, Braves, Bravettes fall

HELENA — Merek Mihelish scored a game-high 14 points and teammate Dylan Almquist added 12 as Helena Capital used a strong second half to defeat Glacier in Western AA boys basketball Saturday.

Cohen Kastelitz and Noah Cummings led the way with 12 points each for the Wolfpack (7-9, 6-6 in Western AA games), who led 29-22 at the half.

Dane Quinn knocked down a pair of 3-pointers for the Bruins (6-10, 6-6), who outscored the Wolfpack 37-16 in the second half.

Helena boys 71, Braves 47

HELENA — Tevin Wetzel scored 15 points of his 31 points in the third quarter and Jaxan Lieberg added 17 as Helena High defeated Flathead 71-47 in Western AA boys basketball Saturday. 

Brodee Zahn scored a team-high 14 points for the Braves (0-16, 0-12 in Western AA games), who trailed 38-15 at the half.

Dylan Mosness and Cayton Delsigne each checked in with 6 points for Helena (8-8, 8-4), who knocked down 10 3-pointers as a team.

Helena girls 55, Bravettes 34

The Bravettes need to bottle up their first halves. Saturday it was Helena High that pulled away in the second half to defeat Flathead in Western AA girls basketball action.

The Bravettes followed up their strong start on Friday by trailing just 22-20 at halftime Saturday, before the Bengals — they sit second in the Western AA at 10-2, and 12-4 overall — outscored them 33-14 over the final two quarters.

Ashley Koenig had all nine of her points in the second half for Helena. Kylee Gardipee led the Bengals with a game-high 16.

Kennedy Moore’s nine points led Flathead (4-12 overall, 1-11 in league). The Bravettes’ next game is Tuesday at Missoula Sentinel.
