Missoula Sentinel outlasts Braves in OT
Jordan Griffin’s half court heave at the buzzer did not fall as Missoula Sentinel picked up the road win in overtime at Flathead 59-58, spoiling Senior Night for the Braves Tuesday.
Griffin closed the Flathead deficit to 59-58 with a corner 3-pointer with just seven seconds left.
A pair of missed free throws by the Spartans — one intentionally that missed the rim entirely — left Griffin just two seconds to give Flathead (0-16, 0-12 in Western AA games) to get off a desperation shot. It hit high off the backboard and came down no good.
Grady Walker’s 19 points led the way for the Spartans (9-7, 5-7), who led 59-55 with under 10 seconds left in the extra frame. Lincoln Rogers added 15 points, including a pair of triples. Hunter Schweyen checked in with 14 points before fouling out late in the game.
Griffin scored a team-high 18 for the Braves. Gabe Sims added nine points and Lyric Ersland had eight.
The Braves go to Missoula Thursday to round out their regular season at Hellgate.
