Law roundup: Dogs attracted to pickup’s pungent odor
Dogs were reportedly attracted to sniffing a pungent odor emanating from a red pickup that had been parked in a lot since October. The person who reported the suspicious scent to the Kalispell Police Department was advised to speak with the business to see about getting it towed.
Someone contacted police with concerns about an allegedly suspicious Facebook post for babysitting services on an “odd jobs” page where a male was “offering to examine juveniles and young people" in the area. The caller didn’t believe the person was a medical professional. Officers were unable to find the post on the page.
Someone allegedly reported a man as missing who was located in an Idaho jail.
Two domesticated bunnies were on the loose near “graffiti rock” by Woodland Park.
Someone reportedly thought a blue SUV parked against a curb for more than a day had been abandoned. Officers found the vehicle had a history of being driven by the registered owner’s son, who tended to park poorly and run out of gas.
A woman had questions about what to do with a bag, tent and other items a man allegedly left on a property despite previously reporting the issue.
A scammer reportedly threatened to post a man’s personal information if he didn’t send them money. Officers counseled him to report the incident to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at www.ic3.gov. He called officers back needing a case report number.
Officers received a later call from someone alleging they were being extorted online by someone located in the Philippines who threatened them and told them to pay $1,600 via PayPal.
A welfare check was requested on a man at a bus stop who reportedly wasn’t moving and had his head against the glass and his legs splayed out. Responding officers noted nothing out of the ordinary.
A man with a shopping cart allegedly had an excessive amount of belongings strewn around a park gazebo. Officers spoke with the man who picked up the items and planned to be on his way.
An employee requested a welfare check on a woman after she had allegedly been asleep in a white convertible with the top down in the parking lot for about three hours. She reportedly told the employee she was waiting for her husband and they noticed the vehicle contained an unusual amount of cleaning supplies. She was reportedly ticketed for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Someone with “teen questions” wanted to talk to a school resource officer.
