LAUREL — After a lightning delay, an extra day and four playoff holes Liam Clancy claimed the Montana State Amateur title at Laurel Golf Club Sunday.

Darkness forced the playoff to move to Sunday after Clancy and Nate Bailey were still deadlocked after two sudden death holes Saturday evening.

Clancy, who won the 2015 Class A golf championship while at Billings Central, moves on to the US Amateur championship in August at Hazeltine National and Chaska Town Course in Minnesota.

Sean Benson fired a 67 in the final round to come in third, while Laurel’s Carson Hackmann finished fourth at two-under.

Columbia Falls’ Blake Reifsnyder finished in a tie for 13th at seven-over par, Whitefish’s Billy Smith came home at plus-nine to finish in a tie for 15th.
