Ahead of the Kalispell Lakers’ AA Legion doubleheader against the Great Falls Chargers Friday, the team is holding its first Alumni Night, a celebration in which several former players will be honored.

The first pitch between the Chargers and Lakers at Griffin Field is at 5 p.m.

The Lakers go back as far as the first Griffin Field, built where the Super1 is today on land donated in 1926. The program won state championships in 1967 (Class B) and 1978 (A, or what is now AA).

“I think it’s a great idea,” AA Lakers manager Ryan Malmin said. “It’s great to recognize the alumni, the guys that have put the legacy together, that keeps American Legion baseball in Kalispell strong.

“I had some phone calls this week — what can you tell me about it, I played from ‘81-84 —  to see some different guys from different eras, that’s a pretty cool thing.”
