Dick Markham, 65

| June 14, 2024 12:00 AM

Dick Markham, 65, passed away on June 10, 2024, with his sweet wife by his side. Dick battled stage 4 cancer for the past year.

He was born in San Francisco, California on Jan. 29, 1959, to his parents Elvin and Sue Markham. Dick met his sweetheart, Sharleen Morden, on June 26, 1990. After almost 34 years of marriage, they were an example of love, commitment, support, and sacrifice. They built their home in Columbia Falls and Dick worked for Shepherds Glass. Together they raised their six children, David, Brad, Kyle, Adam, Nick and Crystal. They taught their children hard work, love, respect, and a love of nature and outdoors. They spent many vacations camping, fishing, and hiking.

He made people laugh with his quick wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed music, gardening, fishing, and hiking. He spent thousands of hours hiking in Glacier National Park. One of his greatest treasures was his family and he was never happier than when he was surrounded by his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sharleen Markham; sons, Kyle Markham, David Nieves (Brittney), Adam Nieves (Megan), Nick Nieves (Vicky); daughter, Crystal Fisher (Justin); and 17 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Sue Markham; his brother, Mark Markham; his son, Brad Nieves; as well as his granddaughter, Aleah Grace Fisher.

We love you and are so grateful for the blessing you have been to all of us. We are grateful for all that you have taught us and will take it with us.

Family and friends can celebrate Dick’s life at 11 a.m. on Monday June 17, at Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls. A graveside service will follow at Fairview Cemetery, with a reception afterwards at the Backroom.
