Alan 'Al' Brice Alstad, 63

| June 28, 2024 12:00 AM

Alan "Al" Alstad, 63 of Kalispell, passed away on May 5, 2024, due to unexpected complications following a dirt bike accident.

He was born in Kalispell on March 2, 1961, to Orlando (Ole) and Dorothy Alstad. He attended Fair-Mont-Egan School and Flathead High School graduating in 1979.

Al worked many jobs starting at a young age, hoeing Christmas trees, moving irrigation pipes for area farmers, working on bikes at Wheaton’s, and for B&T Custom Welding & Muffler. He became a journeyman electrician while working for Plum Creek and GM Electric. Venturing out on his own he started Alstad Electric.

He had a deep love for hunting, fishing, rafting, boating, biking, dirt biking, four-wheeling, camping, and the great outdoors. He enjoyed beautiful sunrises and sunsets, watching birds and wildlife, playing cards, cribbage, and darts. He loved to jump in his pickup truck, pull out his map and explore all that Montana had to offer. It was always a bonus when he spotted wildlife on his adventures. Al enjoyed things like the smallest river in Montana, guessing how long it would take to get to his destination (and almost always getting it right!) and how many creeks there were on his journey.

Children gravitated to Al’s childlike nature; he was always the big kid in the room.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Dorothy Alstad; sons, Clayton and Jordan Alstad; and his brother, Ron Alstad.

He is survived by his grandson, Christian Alstad; ex-wife and friend, Teri Bailey (Destiny and Maci Bailey); sisters, Linda (Ed) Benson, Carol Vish; nieces, Bobbi Bonner, Lori (Ward) Abernathy and Christy (Chris) Gross; nephews, David (Roseé) Benson and Adam (Jazmin) Vish; along with many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Alan was a friend to all who knew him and lent a helping hand to anyone.

A shared memorial/celebration of life for Al and Ron Alstad will be held on Friday, July 12, from 6-9 p.m., at Atanaha Event Center, 29048 Broken Leg Rd., Bigfork. Dinner will be provided. Please RSVP to: Taz7066@yahoo.com.
