Violin virtuoso Eileen Ivers performs in Whitefish

| March 1, 2024 12:00 AM

The Whitefish Theatre Company will present powerhouse musician Eileen Ivers and her four-piece band.

Called “the Jimi Hendrix of the violin,” this Grammy Award winner and Emmy nominated violinist brings a once in a lifetime performance “electrifying the crowd with a dazzling show of virtuoso playing”. Eileen will perform for one night only on March 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.

Eileen will change the way you think of the fiddle. She continues to push traditional fiddling boundaries from a folk music staple to a fiercely fresh, powerfully beautiful, intensely driving world stage experience. In a career that has spanned over 30 years, Eileen has performed with such diverse artists as Sting, Patti Smith, Hall and Oates and The Chieftains and has guest starred with the London Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Boston Pops and over 50 symphony orchestras to date. Eileen was the groundbreaking musical star of “Riverdance” and continues to electrify crowds with a dazzling show of virtuoso playing.

The daughter of Irish immigrants, Eileen grew up in the culturally diverse neighborhood of the Bronx, New York. Rooted in Irish traditional music since the age of eight, she proceeded to win nine All-Ireland fiddle championships, making her one of the most awarded persons ever to compete in these prestigious competitions. After graduating, Eileen fully immersed herself in the different genres of music which she experienced growing up in New York. With her four-piece band whom she refers to as “unIVERSal roots”, Eileen continues to connect music, cultures, stories, and emotions that tie us together. Recording credits include over 80 contemporary and traditional albums and numerous movie scores. Hailed as one of the great innovators and pioneers in the Celtic and World music genres, Eileen and her ensemble headline prestigious performing arts centers, guest star with numerous symphonies, perform at major festivals worldwide, and have appeared on national and international television. The L.A. Times proclaims, "Ivers' presentation was music with the kind of life and spirit that come together when talented artists from different backgrounds find the linkages that connect all forms of music...no wonder the audience loved every minute."
