Football: C-Falls, Whitefish, Bigfork win

LIBBY — Columbia Falls quarterback Banyan Johnston threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score Friday, leading the Wildcats over Libby 49-0 in Western A football action.

Johnston’s 37-yard scoring run gave Columbia Falls (4-2 overall and in the Western A) all the points it needed, but he threw two touchdown passes to Easton Brooks — covering 2 and 47 yards — and another to Daniel Conteras before the first half ended. 

Cooper Ross caught a TD pass in the second half for the Wildcats, to go with a touchdown off a blocked Libby punt in the first quarter. 

Johnston was 9 of 12 passing for 166 yards and ran for another 58 yards. Austin Dodson added a 29-yard touchdown scamper for the Wildcats. 

Libby quarterback Tristan Anderson threw for 96 yards, completing 10 of 19 passes with one interception. Joel Goodman caught seven passes for 58 yards for the Loggers (2-4, 2-4), who were outgained 269-109.

Whitefish 48, Stevi 0 

STEVENSVILLE — Cole Moses rushed for one touchdown, took an interception back 32 yards for another score and Whitefish thumped Stevensville in Western A play. 

Casey McKay also had a pick-6 for the Bulldogs (4-3 overall, 4-2 in league), covering 33 yards, that made it 41-0 in the first quarter. Riley Zetooney, Avery Caton and backup quarterback Luke Dalen all added scoring runs. 

Carson Gulick was 4 of 6 passing for 101 yards for Whitefish, including a scoring pass to Christian Schwaderer, and carried the ball once for 40 yards. The Bulldogs ran just 34 offensive plays but piled up 255 yards.  

CJ Thew had one catch for 59 yards; Dalen was 3 of 3 passing for 22 yards for Whitefish.

RONAN — Frenchtown quarterback Brody Hardy threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead the unbeaten Broncs to another Western A win. 

Bailey Corette and Billy Corette each caught TD passes for Frenchtown (7-0 overall and 6-0 in league games), and Leighton Cyr hauled in another. Jake Forthover added two scring runs in the second half for the Broncs. 

For Ronan (3-4, 3-4), Kolby Finley ran for one touchdown and hit Chad Higgins with a 43-yard pass for another score.

Bigfork 68, Browning 7 

BIGFORK — Treker Hickey ran 10 times for 93 yards and three touchdowns and Bigfork averaged 13 yards per rushing attempt in a lopsided Western A win. 

Cole Schmitt was 5 of 6 passing for 132 yards and three scores for the Vikings, who rolled up 286 yards on the ground and didn’t look back after Hickey’s first TD — covering 3 yards — put them up 14-7 in the first quarter. Schmidtt also ran for a touchdown. 

Austin Savik found the end zone rushing and receiving for Bigfork (5-2 overall and in league); he and Dane Carlson each had one carry, but both went for a touchdown. Tayden West added 63 yards on three carries with a score. 

Ashton Granados had 21 carries for 41 yards and Browning’s lone touchdown, and also caught four passes for 51 yards. The Indians (2-5, 1-5 in league) played two QBs and threw for 151 yards; they were outgained 418-199.

EUREKA — Mason Arlington threw two touchdown passes for Florence, and the Falcons (6-1 overall, 3-0 in the Western B) kept Eureka off the scoreboard in a key league battle. 

Rogan Lytle was 15 of 32 passing for 147 yards for the Lions and ran 16 times for 81 yards. Not much else happened offensively: Eureka (5-2, 1-2 in league) had 269 yards of offense. Haiden Johnson caught five passes for 38 yards and ran 14 times for 39. 

Defensively Emmet McKim had 12 tackles, three of them for losses, and William Heintz had three sacks among his eight stops.
