Pumpkin Stroll planned for Kalispell’s Depot Park

| October 20, 2024 12:00 AM

Kalispell Parks and Recreation Department staff are finalizing details for the first Depot Park Pumpkin Stroll. The Department relocated to the Depot Park building this past May and staff have been eager to deliver new events and recreation activities.

People are invited to participate by dropping off carved pumpkins at the Depot Park building and then view and vote on their favorite pumpkins.

“Depot Park and the historic depot building is an important civic asset that the department is thrilled to utilize for hosting positive community events and programs,” said Stephanie Brown, recreation superintendent.

The “stroll” will feature carved pumpkins placed within ground floor windows at the Depot Park building. LED lights will light up the pumpkins creating a public peeping event.

Park visitors are invited to stroll around the building Oct. 26 to 31 and cast votes declaring their favorite carved creations.  A voting station will be located at the main entrance into the building and first place winners in four categories will receive a gift basket full of tricks and treats donated by local businesses.

Categories include the Pick of the Patch – most creative, Pretty in Pink – breast cancer awareness, Ghoulish Gourd – scariest pumpkin, and Munchkin Pumpkin – kids 12 and under.

Carved pumpkins will be accepted at Kalispell Parks and Recreation Department’s Depot Park office Oct. 24 and 25 from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Entry is free, and fan favorites will be announced on Nov. 1.
