Columbia Falls teams top Lockwood, Billings Central downs Whitefish

LOCKWOOD — Onnikka Lawrence scored a pair of goals and Riley Byrd added a goal and an assist as Columbia Falls defeated Lockwood 3-0 in girls soccer Saturday.

Lawrence found the opener just before the halftime break after being set up by Taylor Rodgers. 

Out of the half, Byrd doubled the lead with a 49th minute goal. Lawrence sealed the game with the Wildkats (1-1) third just seven minutes later. 

Columbia Falls outshot Lockwood (0-2) 13-4, forcing Kennedy Krebs into 10 saves. 

Erica Burguiere and Elaina Dorr combined in goal to keep the sheet clean for the Wildkats. 


Billings Central 7, Whitefish 0 

BILLINGS — Billings Central jumped on Whitefish early and often as the Rams grabbed a 7-0 win Saturday. 

Billings Central (1-0) found the back of the net just two minutes into the game and when the halftime whistle sounded it was 5-0 Rams. 

Despite the result, coach Kelly Ordway was proud of the team's improvement after the half. 

“We reset mentally at halftime and distinctively improved our play,” Ordway said. “Jackie Solem stood out as a goalkeeper. Learned lots of great lessons to carry forward into the season.” 


Boys 

Billings Central 2, Whitefish 1 

Justis Arterbury set up Tristan Irwin for a second half goal as the Whitefish Bulldogs fell to Billings Central 2-1 Saturday. 

The Rams took the lead just over 15 minutes into the game on a set piece goal, they doubled the advantage shortly later. 

The Bulldogs put six shots on target but could only get one past the Billings Central keeper. 


Columbia Falls 6, Lockwood 0 

Maxwell Everett and Jack Harris scored two goals each as Columbia Falls defeated Lockwood 6-0 Saturday. 

River Wolford scored the first of the day for the Wildcats (2-0) and Everett quickly made it 2-0 two minutes later. 

Harris added one in the 26th minute to make it a 3-0 halftime lead. 

Bruno Vazquez scored his fourth of the season in the 49th minute. 

The Wildcats outshot Lockwood (0-2) 22-4 in the match. Rafe Rusche made for saves for Columbia Falls.
