Bonnie Coston, 95

Bonnie June Coston, 95, passed away at Kalispell Rehab and Nursing on Sept. 4, 2024. She was born June 17, 1929, at Seal Beach, California, to Walter B. Smith and Francis M. Smith.

On Sept. 24, 1950, in Upland, California, Bonnie married William Harold Coston. 

She was a stay-at-home mom until children Mike and Linda were in high school. She then got a job at JCPenney's as manager of the shoe department. She was a natural born manager and loved her job.

After husband Bill retired from the Department of Fish Wildlife and Parks in California, they moved to Montana to live in Lakeside.

Bonnie got a job as manager of the camp store at McDonald Lodge in Glacier National Park. She worked there for seven years until retirement. She always said it was the best job that she ever had.

She was very talented and had many hobbies. She knitted, crocheted, sewed, painted and many other fun projects. She also did fun crafts and projects with the grandkids.

When husband, Bill, passed away in April 1996. Bonnie sold the house in Lakeside and had a home built in Kalispell on a lot with a slough right off the back yard. She loved watching the ducks, geese, and other birds.

When Bonnie moved to Kalispell, she became a member of the Quilters Guild and spent the next 25 years making the most beautiful quilts. She was very active in the Guild and made many friends. Bonnie was very active in the Tuesday group with other quilting ladies.

She is survived by her son Michael R. Coston, wife Jodie; daughter Linda K. Norvell, husband Jim; grandson Joshua Beaumont, wife Jennifer, sons Aiden (14) and Torin (12); grandson Matthew Beaumont, wife Kricket, son Mateo Beaumont (13); daughter Auralia Entingh, husband Mason, son Robert James (2); granddaughter Alicia J. George, husband Shelby, daughters Audrey (8) and Emily (3).

She was preceded in death by parents Walter and Francis Smith, brother Dale Smith and wife Joanne, husband William H Coston.

There will be no service at this time.  

Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
