COLUMBIA FALLS — Behind four assists and a goal from River Wolford, the Columbia Falls Wildcats overtook Libby and scored a 9-2 boys soccer win, setting up a sweep of their North A rivals.

In the girls match, Onnika Lawrence had a hat trick, and Bell Bann and Isla Alexander scored two goals each in a 10-0 win.

Danny Waletzki gave Libby a 1-0 lead midway through the first half, and it took until the 36-minute mark for the Wildcats to regain the lead, on the first of Maxwell Everett’s three goals. In between, teammate Bruno Felijo scored the first of his two goals on a penalty kick.

Wolford assisted on Everett’s goal, then on two more by Otto Anderson and Everett before the half ended with Columbia Falls up 4-1.

Everett’s third goal also came off a Wolford assist and made it 7-2 in the second half.

Aaron Thomas tallied for Libby late in the match.

“Libby gave us a run for the first 35 minutes of that game,” Columbia Falls coach O’Brien Byrd said. “Our boys came off a big win and very energetic performance 48 hours ago and it showed tonight in the first half.

Felijo also assisted on a goal by Silas Ympa, before finding the net for C-Falls' final score.

“Silas Ympa ran relentlessly into the channels and created so much space for the other attackers,” Byrd said. “Seven-and-0 is a good start to the season.”
