COLUMBIA FALLS — Maxwell Everett scored five goals, setting a school record along the way, and Columbia Falls beat Thompson Falls/Plains 9-1 in North A boys soccer Friday.

In the earlier girlsr game, the Wildkats used two goals each from Riley Byrd and Isla Alexander to a 9-2 win over Thompson Falls.

Wildcats 9, Blue Hawks 1

Everett had his first two goals set up by River Wolford, who ended the night with two goals of his own and three assists.

Everett has 28 goals this season; Finley Sundberg scored 24 during the Wildcats’ 2022 championship campaign. Wolford’s assist total grew to 18, which unofficially ties the school single-season record.

“Those guys have been simpatico since Day 1 of the season,” Wildcats coach O’Brien Byrd said of Everett and Wolford. “To be honest, River’s service is another level. They’re quite the duo.

“It was against a young Thompson Falls team, but what a really big night for two young men  who put those goals in their sights to start their season.”

The Wildcats outshot the Blue Hawks 25-6 and improved to 8-0, 5-0 in league matches. Wolford’s third assist set up Jack Harris in the 79th minute. Silas Ypma also found the net for Columbia Falls.

Andrew Wrobleski scored the goal for Thompson Falls (0-6-2, 0-4-1 in league).
