Ronan baseball powers past Plains-Hot Springs
PLAINS — Ronan scored eight runs in the fourth inning, including an RBI double from Baylan Hess as the Chiefs defeated Plains-Hot Springs 15-8 in high school baseball Saturday.
Hess' double followed a single from Nathaniel Bisson that brought a pair of runs home for the Chiefs (2-3).
Plains (0-4) rallied in the fifth with an RBI double from Beau Crabb sparking a six-run frame to cut the deficit to 14-8.
Five different pitchers took the mound for Ronan, spearheaded from 2 1-3 innings from Hunter Luedtke and two from Ben Mitchell. Hess also threw 1 1-3 innings, striking out two.
Eureka 16, Troy 1
EUREKA — Michael VanGlider drove in four runs on two hits as Eureka cruised past Troy in four innings.
VanGlider doubled in the third inning, bringing home a pair of runs and extending the Lions (5-2) lead to 5-1. He followed that in the fourth with an RBI single in his first at bat of the inning, then was hit by a pitch in his second appearance which walked off the game via the run rule.
Henry Roy Jr. drove in the lone run for the Trojans (0-4) with a single to left in the top of the first inning.
Bigfork 31, Browning 1
BROWNING — Liam Benson doubled, driving in three runs and capping off a 28-run second inning for Bigfork in a win over Browning.
Benson finished the game with six RBIs on one hit and three walks, he scored three runs also. The Vikings (4-2) sent 33 batters to the plate in the second inning.
Browning scored its sole run of the game in the top of the third as J Snow came home on a passed ball.
Despite the game being in Browning, Bigfork batted as the home team.
