Glacier’s Olivia Gibbons and Ava Grady homered during a 10-run second inning, and the Wolfpack went on to put away Class A Polson 15-5 in non-conference softball Tuesday at Glacier’s field.

Polson (11-3-1) had forged a 2-2 tie on Jaja Nichols’ solo home run in the second inning but then saw the AA Wolfpack (12-2) send 14 hitters to the plate in their half of the inning.

Cazz Rankosky’s bases-loaded walk, the third free pass of the inning, gave Glacier the lead for good. Olivia Warriner followed with a 2-run single to make it 5-2; Gibbons came up next, hitting a three-run homer to center.

Following a Taylor Vivian single and a groundout, Grady hit a two-run homer to left for a 10-2 lead. Nakiah Persinger, who went 5-for-5 with two doubles, drove in two with a two-base hit to cap the uprising.

Persinger added an RBI double in the fourth inning, before Polson got a three-run home run from Emma Smith in the fifth. That cut the gap to 13-5, but Glacier got single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to end the game under the run rule.

Olivia Warriner led off the fifth with a solo home run; In the sixth Kaydee Walcheck hit a leadoff single and came around on two singles and Rankosky’s sacrifice fly to end it.

Persinger, Rankosky, Warriner, Walcheck and Khirsten Terrell all scored twice; Grady scored three runs.

Gibbons and Warriner split the pitching duties, each going three innings and allowing two earned runs. Gibbons struck out two, Warriner fanned five.

Glacier’s next action is the second Crosstown game with Flathead, at Kidsport at 5 p.m. Thursday. Polson is at Northwest A rival Ronan the same day.
