A 38-year-old man is facing felony charges after allegedly drawing a handgun on a pair of people near Columbia Falls in late July.

Prosecutors brought Dale Justin Cartee up on two counts of assault with a weapon in Flathead County District Court following the July 26 confrontation on Columbia Meadows Drive. He is scheduled to appear before Judge Heidi Ulbricht on Aug. 7 for his arraignment.

Flathead County Sheriff's Office deputies found Cartee after responding to a report of a disturbance involving a weapon about 10:33 a.m., according to court documents. The victims accused Cartee of aiming a weapon at them.

Under questioning, Cartee said he arrived at the Columbia Meadows Drive property to find the victims in the driveway. He allegedly admitted retrieving his firearm and leveling at one of the two victims.

Deputies later found a 9 mm Girsan handgun in Cartee's vehicle, according to court documents.

Assault with a weapon carries a penalty of up to 20 years in Montana State Prison and a $50,000 fine.
