Bitterroot Red Sox rolling at Northwest A regional, Bucks bow out
BURLEY, Idaho — The Bitterroot Red Sox are guaranteed a Sunday matchup, while Bozeman dropped their second consecutive game to bow out at the Northwest A Legion baseball tournament Saturday.
The Bucks, who claimed Montana’s state championship a week ago, downed the Prairie Cardinals to open play before falling to Klamath Falls and Burley.
The Red Sox took commanding wins over Wasilla and Lovell to advance to the 2-0 matchup with Klamath Falls. The game is still ongoing at press time.
Green Sox 8, Bucks 7
Casen Cooper’s sixth inning two-run single and a hit batsman helped the hosts stay alive against Bozeman.
The Bucks last hopes went down in order in the top of the seventh.
Rolen Quezada went 3-for-4 for Bozeman, who amassed eight hits in the game.
Wyatt Ford threw five innings for the Bucks, allowing five runs on nine hits. He fanned five batters.
Wolverines 16, Mustangs 9 (10)
Cole Christiansen tripled during a nine-run explosion in the 10th inning for the Cache Wolverines to eliminate Lovell.
Tied at five after seven innings, Jensen Maddux tripled in the ninth to put Cache ahead.
Tucker Jackson answered for the Mustangs with an RBI double in the bottom of the inning to force a 10th.
Four pitchers combined in the win for the Wolverines.
Friday
Red Sox 23, Lovell 4
Jude Widmer went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs for the Red Sox, he also crossed the plate four times.
Reese Earp and Elijah McNair-Neal drove in four runs apiece for Bitterroot, who capitalized on eight errors from the Wyoming champions.
Cash Lawrence threw three no-hit innings for the Red Sox, Tadvick and DeMoss combined to close out the final two innings. The game ended after five innings due to the run rule.
Falcons 10, Bucks 9 (9)
Kollin Taccini’s ninth inning single pushed the Falcons to an extra innings win in the second round.
The Bucks scored seven runs over the final three innings to force the extra frames, Gabe Stordahl’s doubles evened the game at nine in the seventh.
Six extra-base hits powered the Bozeman offense, but five Bucks errors helped Klamath Falls to the win.
Thursday
Red Sox 11, Warriors 0
Jude Widmer went 4-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs as Bitterroot bested the Alaskan state champions.
Boedy Tadvick knocked in three runs for the Red Sox, who scored in each of the five innings they batted.
Jackson Lubke and Brady DeMoss combined to allow just one Wasilla hit. The game ended after five innings due to the run rule.
Chase Sivulich picked up the lone hit for the Warriors.
Bucks 9, Cardinals 6
Everett Norick went 2-for-4 and drove in five runs for Bozeman in a first-round victory.
True Archer added three hits and scored a run as the Montana state champions scored four runs in the seventh to break a 5-5 tie.
Harvey Kimmel went 3 2-3 no-hit innings for the Bucks, striking out five. Gabe Stordahl added two innings in relief, allowing one run on four hits.
