Law roundup: Accused drunk driver actually fine to drive
An off-duty sheriff's deputy flagged the driver of a white Dodge for the Kalispell Police Department, telling officers the rig was weaving and swerving into the lane for oncoming traffic. Officers caught up with the vehicle and followed it a short while, but did not see any erratic driving. In fact, the vehicle made a normal turn and then successfully backed into a parking stop. They also watched as the motorist exited the vehicle and walk without any difficulty. Chatting with the officers, the man said he was free of drugs or alcohol.
Someone phoned the police looking for more information about an employee's behavior the day prior.
After a woman in a parking lot asked her to phone 911, a passerby called the police. The woman, who was in a white van with someone else, was yelling that she didn't feel so good. The caller decided it was best to keep moving and told the authorities that she last saw the woman, described as about 60, barefoot and in jean shorts, walking into traffic on West Reserve Drive. Responding officers unsuccessfully tried to track the woman down.
Officers recovered a Honduran identification card.
Finding a confused woman standing outside, employees of a delivery firm phoned the authorities. They said the woman had seemingly forgotten how to get home. She eventually said she was going to get some smokes and walked away. Officers were unable to locate her.
A passerby reported spotting an animal left in a red Honda in a handicapped parking spot.
Spotting a red Subaru Impreza speeding and swerving down the road with its hazard lights on and headlights flashing, a fellow motorist decided to alert the authorities. They estimated the Subaru was traveling at least 100 mph.
