Seelhoff lands Big Sky honor
Montana senior Chloe Seelhoff, who spent last Thursday evening terrorizing Southern Utah’s defense, has been named the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Seelhoff scored the Grizzlies’ second and third goals in their 3-0 shutout of the Thunderbirds in Montana’s season opener, the second two-goal performance of her two-year Griz career.
It’s the second career Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week award for Seelhoff, who also on Tuesday made the honorable mention list on Top Drawer Soccer’s Team of the Week.
Bobcats poll second in cross country
The Big Sky Conference released the results of its 2025 men’s and women’s cross country preseason coaches’ polls on Tuesday, and MSU is No. 2 in both.
Last fall the Bobcat men and women were runners up at the league championships in Pocatello, Idaho. Sam Ells of Glacier and Flathead High product Ben Perrin return after earning all-Big Sky honors in 2024.
Northern Arizona’s women are unanimous favorites to win a seventh straight Big Sky titles. The Lumberjack men have won four straight.
Montana was picked seventh among the men’s teams and ninth out of the 10 women’s Big Sky teams.
Tech, Western Frontier football favorites
HELENA — Montana Tech is the favorite in the Frontier Conference East Division, in a poll of the league’s football coaches released Monday.
Montana Tech collected 34 points and four of the seven first-place nods in the poll, narrowly edging Frontier newcomer Dickinson State for the top spot.
There are two divisions in the conference, which expanded to 14 schools with the addition of North Star Athletic Association institutions Dakota State, Dickinson State, Mayville State, and Valley City State along with Simpson of California.
