EAST MISSOULA — Nobody was catching the Glacier girls or the Missoula Sentinel boys.

With medalist Kendall Tkachyk and Maggie Milton finishing 1-2, the Wolfpack won the girls team title at the two-day Missoula Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at Canyon River Golf Club.

Tkachyk had the field’s best score, a 79, on Monday at Larchmont; on Tuesday Milton had the lowest girls round, an 89. She finished with a two-day total of 175, three strokes behind Tkachyk.

Vaida Cole (191) and Abbi Townsend (200) gave Glacier four girls in the top 15; the Pack’s total was 738, 41 strokes ahead of second-place Helena.

Flathead’s girls finished fifth among the seven programs that fielded full teams; every Western AA team participated. The Bravettes’ Hayden Ward finished 14th individually.

On the boys side both Sentinel and Glacier had four golfers shoot even par or better Tuesday. The four that scored for the Wolfpack all went under par — Jonah Wynne and Torren Murray shot 70s, while Luke Nelson and Sam Syverson carded 71s — for a 6-under 282 total. That was 20 strokes better than the Wolfpack shot Monday.

Sentinel, with four golfers shooting even 72 Tuesday, stayed comfortably ahead and won by 17 strokes.

The Spartans’ Hudson Goroski (139) was medalist; Murray drew himself into a tie for second with Sentinel’s Jack Schaefer, at 3-under 141.

Nelson tied for seventh, Wynne was ninth and Syverson, 10th for the Wolfpack.

Sentinel put a fifth golfer, Gabe Shepard, in the top 15.

Flathead’s boys finished seventh. The Braves’ top finisher was Andrew Converse; he tied for 24th with Glacier’s Elliot Anderson with a 170 total.
