Law roundup: Man and woman steal forbidden fruit
A couple allegedly climbed into a man’s apple tree and began picking the fruit. Despite telling the man and woman it was private property and not to steal his apples, they reportedly continued to pick three bags worth of the forbidden fruit, saying they would be back for more and headed toward Woodland Park. Kalispell Police Department officers detained a man and woman holding apples in their hands. The woman denied getting the apple from private property. Officers advised them they would be ticketed for trespassing if they went on the man’s property.
A father called the police, alleging a short, fat Australian shepherd ran out of a garage and tried to attack his son, but ran back to the house when he stepped between the dog and his child. No one was injured by the squat dog whose owner said the dog was normally inside the fence and did not have a history of “being mean.”
Officers responded to an unfounded report of a child with matted hair locked in a cage in a black van that had a door propped open, while more children sat in the grass and a woman stumbled around. Turns out, the cage had kittens in it, and the adults were traveling through the state with their children, who were in good health and seated normally in the van.
A man with a red beard and mustache and bad acne reportedly went ballistic when asked to show his ID to buy cigarettes. He allegedly threw his ID at the employee, then took it back, yelled at her, punched a window and flipped her off.
A blonde woman wearing a cropped top and gray sweatpants reportedly hit a hotel employee in the hall and ran out the door, getting in an SUV with five or six occupants that drove away.
A resident called the police after a neighbor allegedly called them, saying a man walked up to their door, looked inside and ducked his head when the neighbor approached him. The resident reportedly drove around the neighborhood looking for the suspicious man and saw taillights in a park after hours, but he didn’t know if it was related.
A man reportedly thought he saw a man matching a photo of a wanted person out of Washington, saying that while he was in a store, his wife said that he was walking around the parking lot looking at a lot of people and “not afraid of eye contact.”
A Good Samaritan found a check in a thrift store parking lot and turned it in to the police department. The check was returned to the owner.
