Law roundup: Reckless drivers are par for the course
A woman driving a red BMW allegedly tried to pass a man driving a black Ford Raptor that was weaving in and out of lanes on U.S. 93 South with a child sitting in the front seat. She reportedly told Kalispell Police Department officers that he kept blocking her from passing and cut her off in the left lane, causing her to slam on the brakes. He then allegedly threw a golf ball, which hit her passenger-side window but didn't damage it. The man reportedly countered that the BMW “came flying up behind him,” passing him on the shoulder. He said they were both driving fast, but denied throwing a golf ball.
A speeding maroon Chevy Trailblazer southbound on U.S. 2 was reportedly “climbing curbs” and turning right in the “wrong lanes" and almost rear-ended a truck painting lines on the road. Officers stopped the vehicle in downtown Kalispell and an older woman alleged that she just flew in from out of state, was trying to figure out the rental car and the area and didn't know what the speed limit was.
Someone called police after allegedly hearing screaming, yelling, swearing, things being slammed and a female voice occasionally pleading, “please,” in an apartment for an hour straight. Officers reportedly spoke to three minors with alcohol, which they removed or dumped, and counseled them about disturbing the peace and yelling at video games. Officers attempted to call their parents who reportedly didn't answer and left a message on the apartment owner’s doorbell Ring camera.
A camp director reportedly requested extra patrols after a children’s camp counselor saw a man walking out of a park bathroom with a large hunting or kitchen knife strapped to his backpack, but he didn’t threaten anyone with it.
Officers stopped a white Chevy pickup with a rear Idaho license plate and a front North Carolina license plate. The Idaho plate was removed, and the driver received a warning for having fictitious plates.
An unresponsive woman in her 30s was reportedly found by someone who shook her, but she wouldn’t wake up.
Officers received a later call from hospital security about a woman brought to the emergency room by police who was discharged but wouldn’t leave and was “throwing a fit” — and herself onto the ground — yelling and screaming that she wanted someone to drive her to Bigfork. They were also concerned she would walk into traffic and be hit.
