Roundup: Eureka shuts out Fairfield

EUREKA — Eureka quarterback Rogan Lytle threw three touchdown passes, two to Emmet McKim, and ran for another score as the Lions handled Fairfield in nonconference Class B football Friday.

Lytle was 8 of 13 passing for 144 yards and ran for 57 yards on another 11 carries. McKim’s TDs covered 6 and 13 yards. 

Josh Lambertson caught Lytle’s other touchdown pass and tore off a 62-yard scoring run for the Lions. Lambertson ran four times for 86 yards and had four catches for 58.  

Ayden Helgert ran for 40 yards on 11 carries for Eureka, which outgained the Eagles 310-222. Helgert had 15 tackles on defense, and McKim had 13 stops.  

Timmy Schmidt added eight tackles and a fumble recovery.

Polson 26, Corvallis 6

CORVALLIS — Sophomore Case Cox threw for 228 yards and three touchdowns, including a 9-yard strike to Eli Evenson to break a 6-6 tie in the third quarter as the Polson Pirates surged past Corvallis in nonconference play. 

Cox completed 17 of 22 passes, with TD strikes to Merick Ramesar, Evenson and Holden Emerson.  

Emerson, the Pirates’ starting QB the past two seasons, switched to receiver three snaps into the game and hauled in six passes for 59 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. 

Luke Horner tacked on a 7-yard scoring run for the Pirates, who also got 116 rushing yards on 19 carries from Daniel O’Roake. Polson piled up 445 yards of offense.

FRENCHTOWN — Cole Schmit threw an early touchdown pass to Austin Savik to put Bigfork ahead, and Frenchtown took command from there in non-conference Class A football. 

Dawson Rodoni threw two touchdown passes and Cole Johnson had a clinching 83-yard scoring run for the Broncs.

Lewistown 17, C-Falls 13

LEWISTOWN — The Lewistown Eagles blocked punts on back-to-back possessions in the third quarter and erased a 13-3 deficit to take down Columbia Falls. 

Lewistown blocked three punts total during a game in which the Wildkats outgained the Eagles 313 yards to 148. 

The second one left the Eagles at the C-Falls 42-yard line, and Lewistown cashed it in for a 19-yard scoring pass from McKay Shobe to Madden Norslien.  

On the Wildcats’ next possession a bobbled snap led to another punt block. The Eagles’ Rhett Comes scooped it up and took 20 yards for the touchdown and a 17-13 lead. 

Banyan Johnston was 17 of 34 passing for 212 yards, including a 20-yard TD to Hayden Strandberg.  

Trip Ross had a 30-yard scorinr run to put the Wildcats up 13-3; Ross had 18 carries for 96 yards. Easton Brooks hauled in six passes for 117 yards for the Cats. 

Shobe was 9 of 18 passing for 73 yards.
