Proposed condo buildings in North Kalispell up for public hearing

The public can weigh in on a developer’s request to build two condominium buildings in North Kalispell on Tuesday.  

A public hearing on the project will be held during the Kalispell Planning Commission meeting at 6 p.m., Dec. 9 in City Hall.  

Neil Johnson, owner of Tetra Holdings LLC, is requesting a conditional use permit to erect two multi-family residential buildings at 95 Village Loop, just off Whitefish Stage Road and near The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  

The proposal is for one 12-unit and one 24-unit building on 2.04 acres zoned RA-2 (residential apartment). The buildings would be parallel to one another with a parking lot in between, according to design plans.  

The condos would exist around other multi-family developments, residential neighborhoods and offices, according to a city staff report.  

After the hearing, the commission will make a recommendation to Kalispell City Council.  

THE COMMISSION will also hold a public hearing on a request from Fatt Boys Restaurant & Casino to expand its gambling area.  

Fatt Boys is asking for a conditional use permit to allow for a 155-square-foot expansion of its casino within the existing building located at 1307 U.S. 2 W. No exterior expansion is proposed.  

NorthWestern Energy is requesting a new conditional use permit to expand its utility yard located off North Meridian Road.  

The utility wants to construct a 5,305-square-foot addition to its existing building to house equipment and vehicles. 

NorthWestern Energy received a permit for the proposed expansion in 2020. But the permit lapsed after construction failed to start within the required timeframe, according to a city staff report.  

The commission will hold a public hearing on the proposal before making a recommendation to Council.
