Girls roundup: Browning, Ronan win big

RONAN — Ronan’s Kailyn Marengo hit three 3-pointers on the way to 18 points, teammate Nevaeh Perez added 17 and the Maidens beat Polson 71-50 in Northwest A girls basketball Saturday.

Marengo was 6 of 13 from the floor and 3 of 7 from beyond the arc. Ronan overcame some frigid free throw shooting — 20 of 40 — to improve to 7-5 overall and 4-2 in league games. She scored nine points during a 24-8 Ronan surge in the second quarter. 

Rylee Taylor-Jefferson hit three 3-pointers and scored 17 points to lead Polson (5-7, 3-3 in league). Samantha Rensvold added 14 points for the Lady Pirates, including an 8 of 10 performance at the line.

LIBBY — Amani Yellow Owl hit two 3-pointers and scored eight points as Browning took a big first-quarter lead, and the Lady Indians romped to the Northwest A win. 

Yellow Owl and Teslin Trombley each scored 13 points to lead a balanced offense for Browning (5-6 overall, 3-2 in the Northwest A). Shaylee Heavy Runner added 11 points. 

Madison Vincent led Libby (1-11, 0-6 in league) with seven points.
