Lady Lions fall; Breakers Laird scores 38 at Western B

HAMILTON — Higher seeds Mission, Florence, Missoula Loyola and Thompson Falls were all first-round winners at the Western B Divisional girls basketball tournament Thursday.

Eureka fell 66-27 to Florence, and into a loser-out game against Darby on Friday at 8 a.m. Mission tamed the Tigers 79-35. 

Missoula Loyola beat Superior 66-19 in the late session, before Thompson Falls won the closest game of the day over Anaconda, 48-43. 

Details on that final game were not made available.

Florence 66, Eureka 27 

Maggie Schneiter led a balanced Florence offense with 13 points, and the Falcons put the game away with a 24-2 second-quarter surge. 

Brynn Kossman had a game-high 19 points for the Lady Lions.

Sheadon Kaine had 17 points and Kieran Incashola hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 for Mission, which led 45-15 at halftime. 

Darby’s Hadley Heiland scored a game-high 23 points.
