Polson girls down Whitefish
POLSON — Aleysia Black and Rylee Taylor-Jefferson scored nine points each as Polson used a strong first half to defeat Whitefish 38-29 in a Northwest A girls basketball play-in game Thursday evening.
Ahri Rushing added eight points for the Pirates (7-12) who raced ahead 21-10 at the half.
Izze Short led the Bulldogs (4-15) with six points, while Reese Hudson, Charlize Ullrich and Carmella Alfieri tallied five points apiece. The Bulldogs tried to rally in the final frame, outscoring Polson 11-2.
The Pirates now travel to Browning Saturday at 2 p.m. with the winner clinching the Northwest A No. 4 seed at the Western A divisional in Whitefish on March 6-8.
The Lady Indians defeated Libby 67-21 in the other girls Northwest A play-in game Thursday.
