Law roundup: Man doesn’t get far with deep state fears

| January 26, 2025 12:00 AM

A man allegedly thought “agents of the deep state” were entering his apartment through a hidden entrance located in the closet. Although he had not seen anyone in the house or footprints outside — his shirts had purportedly been reorganized; his air rifle no longer functioned and the motion sensor lights he set up under the bed lit up when no one was in the room. An officer told him that his concerns “appeared to be more paranormal than criminal at this time” when asked officers to investigate.

Incensed, he told the officer he would use the Castle Doctrine on anyone who dared enter his home. When advised about the potential consequences of that, he called the officer a "deep state (vulgarity)" and hung up.

Officers responded to a woman’s concern that people were reportedly getting into her car, moving things around, wrapping up wires and trying to remove the seal on the door. Officers took photos and didn’t notice any words on the windows and noticed the door seal was old.

A man under the bypass reportedly stripped down to shorts and began shaking as his skin turned red, which prompted a passerby to call officers and ask them to check on his welfare.

An employee reportedly called the police with concerns about compromised information after the company computers were hacked. She said she already reported it to the FBI and was advised to make a local report too.
